RIGHT TO LIFE

As a father, I have never lost the awe and wonder of the gift of life. However, it is not just the miracle of life that inspires my political position but also the foundations of western thought. John Locke's concept of natural rights, rights that cannot be denied to any human being, include life, liberty, and property. These are the cornerstone of our Nation— described by Virginia's own Thomas Jefferson as "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" in the Declaration of Independence.

 I believe that anyone who claims to support human rights must be 100% pro-life - beginning at conception. A child is a unique individual with unique DNA and thus equally worthy of protection, even before birth. It is the responsibility of our elected officials to vociferously defend life - especially when a person is unable to do so themselves. It is the foundation of human rights itself.
